Poverty Information: SPIU publications and the best of the WWW

SPIU is committed to communicating effectively with the wide range of people who want to find out more about poverty in Scotland. Through this website, SPIU disseminates five types of outputs and directs readers to further sources of useful information.

SPIU Briefings

SPIU’s signature publication is its briefings – four page publications, each of which provides a concise review of one aspect of poverty. The series was re-launched in 2009 with the publication of a briefing on ‘Financial capability’.  Papers are authored by SPIU staff, often in conjunction with external partners.

SPIU Findings

Four page publications, each of which provides a summary report of key findings from SPIU research and consultancy.  Published with the permission of SPIU funders. Papers are authored by SPIU staff and research partners.

SPIU Thinkpieces

Short reflective essays on particular aspects of poverty and anti-poverty policy. Most papers are authored by SPIU staff.  Non-SPIU papers may be considered for publication, subject to review by SPIU staff.

SPIU Research Reports

Full length reports resulting from SPIU research and consultancy. Publication subject to the permission of SPIU funders.

SPIU Conference Papers

Outputs in the form of either Powerpoint slide presentations, audio files or essays based on presentations delivered by SPIU staff at conferences, seminars and workshops.
